The flagship processor Ryzen 9 7900X from the Ryzen 7000 series is pretty much capable of handling anything because of its high core count and great overclocking potential. However, heating is of great concern for any high-end processor and without any proper cooling you might end up reducing your processor’s overall lifespan and it can also damage the motherboard.

Overclocking can certainly increase the performance of your processor to a great extent but it generates more heat and hence a good CPU Cooler is a must. The Ryzen 9 7900X can handle a max temperature of 95 degrees but it is always better to keep the temperature as low as possible to ensure smooth functioning of your processor.

In this article, I have listed some of the best CPU coolers for Ryzen 9 7900X to ensure that your processor runs cool and lasts long, while also providing good overclocking potential. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

With 12 cores and 24 threads, Ryzen 9 7900X has a TDP of 170W and for good reason - it’s one of the most powerful CPUs on the market. This processor is capable of some serious multi-tasking and can handle even the most strenuous workloads but for gaming, you’ll need a dedicated graphics card. But all that power comes at a price, and that price is heating.

The question arises, which type of cooler should you get? Well, I would recommend that if you’re building your pc certainly for overclocking then you should go for an AIO cooler, otherwise, an Air cooler will also work just fine. The good news is, that I’ve considered both types of coolers for this list, and these are the coolers that give an exceptional performance no matter if you’re overclocking your CPU or using it on stock configurations.

The 2 Best CPU Cooler for Ryzen 9 7900X Reviews

Noctua first gained traction in the computer world for its innovative cooling solutions. Utilizing modern technologies like the AAO frame, beveled blade tips, and SSO-Bearing allows Noctua products to run quietly while also having a long lifespan. Specifically, The Noctua NH-D15S uses a 140mm fan that is designed for flagship processors like Ryzen 9 7900x. This top-of-the-line air cooler is one of the best CPU coolers for Ryzen 9 7900x while keeping out unnecessary heat and maintaining optimal temperature.

Kicking things off with the design, NH-D15S features a very simple and elegant design with a blackish color tone. It is also available in Noctua’s signature color(brown), but for me, the black colors suit more for great builds. Noctua mainly focuses on the quality of its products and you won’t see any fancy RGB lights or designs on Noctua products.

It has two magnificent heatsinks connected to the 6 heat pipes and the fan lies in the middle of the two heatsinks. The fan size on NH-D15S is 140mm which is the same as the Noctua NH-D15 but the latter comes with two 140mm fans, hence being more efficient. Furthermore, it is 160mm tall and fits in most mid-tower and full-tower cases while still having enough RAM clearance (65mm). Being this big, it exposes PCIe slots on micro-ATX motherboards giving you the option of installing a GPU with a bigger cooler.

Integrated with SS02 bearing, it has a maximum of 1500 RPM and still manages to produce only 24 dBA of noise which is not too high as compared to other reference models available in the market. The cooler base and heat-pipes are composed of industrial-grade copper, but aluminum is used for the fins of the heat sink since aluminum is a lighter metal that allows for easier heat dissipation.

With the included NT-H1 high-grade thermal paste, you don’t need to buy a separate thermal paste and the SecuFirm2 mounting system allows easy installation of this cooler without any assistance from a technician. Not to mention, as a well-known company, Noctua also offers a 6 year manufacturer’s warranty against accidental damage.

Overall, I’d say that under a 100 bucks, NH-D15S is a perfect option for Ryzen 9 7900X as it has a large size fan with aluminum fins for quick and easy heat removal from your processor even when your processor is running at high temps during overclocking.

Reasons to Buy

  • Quiet fan noise ~28 dBA.

Reasons Not to Buy

  • Mounting can be a hurdle.

As one of the most popular gaming brands, Thermaltake has a lot to offer in their pc cases, CPU coolers, and gaming peripherals. One of their best price to performance coolers is the TH360 which comes with a 360mm radiator and RGBs all over the place. The selling point of this cooler is its low price while still providing top-notch cooling and being one of the best-looking coolers in the market. It is available in both 240mm and 360mm radiator sizes.

Starting with the design, it comes with both black and white color options to match the color scheme of your system. The all-black color I’ve here looks great and goes well with any system color. On top of that, it has an ARGB 360 LED ring on the fan and in the water block which is fully compatible with all the major motherboard manufacturers' RGB lighting solutions.

Moving on to the specs, the fan is 120mm and can spin at up to 1500RPM, so it moves a lot of air. The radiator is made from aluminum, while the block itself is copper which is common in every AIO cooler. The fans also have PWM control so that you can adjust the speed according to your needs and they’re also very quiet. Moreover, there’s also the TOUGHLIQUID Ultra variant that shows all information related to the water block which if you’re a gaming enthusiast would love to have. But I’ll just stick to the regular one.

Coming to performance, it does a great job cooling the Ryzen 9 7900x which is a gaming beast but tends to get hot quickly. The cooling performance is on par with some of the more expensive coolers out there and it’s very quiet as well. It also comes with 3 years of warranty which is great considering the price. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the lack of instructions on how to install it. But other than that, it’s a great cooler and if you’re looking for a cheap AIO cooler with great performance, then this is the one for you.
