Their Z5 Neo is the newest addition to their trident series featuring the new AMD’s EXPO profile for Ryzen 7000 series. This new EXPO profile is just like Intel’s XMP 2.0 which makes overclocking a breeze. With these new features, the Trident Z5 Neo is one of the best ram for Ryzen 7 7700X.
Talking about the design, this kit comes with a black brushed aluminum finish and a stylish RGB light bar on the top. The lightbar is addressable and can be controlled via G.Skill’s RGB software or any other compatible motherboard software. The kit we are reviewing here is a 2x16GB kit with a clock speed of 6000 MHz and CL30 latency.
This kit comes with two 16GB sticks of DDR5 memory which is more than enough for gaming and other high-end applications. With a total of 32GB of memory, you will be able to run multiple applications simultaneously without any issues. Corsair has been my favorite brand in terms of RAMs, CPU coolers, and particularly cases. They have always provided good quality products at a reasonable price. The Dominator series has been around since DDR2 and is one of the most popular RAM kits among gamers and enthusiasts while providing good looks, great overclocking headroom, and a low price.
The Dominator Platinum RGB is the newest addition to the Dominator series and comes with a stylish new design and addressable RGB lighting. The kit we are reviewing here is a 2x16GB kit with a memory speed of 6200 MHz and a CAS latency of CL36. It has a higher CAS latency than the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo, but it makes up for it with a higher memory speed.
Just like the Trident Z5 Neo, the Dominator Platinum RGB also comes with two color variants, black, and white along with RGB lighting. The design of these lights is very different and provides the next level of beautification. There are blocks of LEDs all across the top of the RAM which creates a very unique and stylish look. These 12 RGB lights are bright and come with Capellix technology which reduces power consumption. The Dominator Platinum RGB is compatible with all major motherboard manufacturers' RGB lighting control software.
With Ryzen 7000 series, AMD announced their EXPO technology to get more overclocked performance from the RAMs, but the Dominator Platinum doesn’t come compatible with that. However, if you’re putting it together with an Intel processor, then you’re in luck as this kit is XMP 3.0 compatible and can be easily overclocked to max potential.
Overall, the Dominator Platinum RGB is a great kit and looks beautiful with its unique design and bright RGB lights. It also comes at a very reasonable price. The only thing that makes it sit in second place is the compatibility with AMD EXPO, however, with time Corsair might come up with a new variant that supports it.
